On August 5-7, 2011 Eurasia Partnership Foundation, with financial support of British Embassy, organized three-day training for 24 young activists. The trainings were organized by EPF in the framework of Community Youth Peace Building through New Media Program. The goal of the program is to promote dialogue and cooperation among young people of South Caucasus through use of new media and networking.
The trainings were conducted by three prominent specialists in the field of social media. Ms. Pervana Mammadova, a member of Council of Europe’s Pool of Trainers and SALTO Trainers’ Network, in her presentation talked about Cultural Diversity and Conflict Management. The session was followed by the presentation of Mr. Shahin Rzayev, the Country Director of IWPR who talked about Conflict Transformation and Bias-free Reporting. By the end of his session Mr. Rzayev presented a short documentary “Ireland”, which was very well received by the participants and was widely discussed among them. The final presentation was delivered by Mr. Vugar Safarov, New Media specialist at Mobile Media Public Union. During his presentation Mr. Safarov introduced the participants to the practical aspects of New Media such as types, tools, application, marketing and PR.
The next stage of the project envisions a workshop to be conducted in Georgia. EPF will select the participants among those who most successfully accomplished the training in Baku.
