Eurasia Partnership Foundation granted 25 thousand Dollars to six partner municipalities in the framework of “Transparency in Municipal Service Delivery” Program.
On this occasion, municipalities participated in contract signing ceremony organized at EPF’s office on 6th of July. During this meeting, EPF’s Program and Grant Managers gave information related to grant procedures and norms of EPF and answered questions of municipal representatives. Sheyda Mehdiyeva, representative of Statoil company attended the meeting as well.
It is worth to note that Eurasia Partnership Foundation launched a competition for the project proposals directed towards the increase of transparency in municipal budgets and strengthening institutional potential of municipalities in the framework of “Transparency in Municipal Service Delivery” Program on December 2010. According to the conditions of the competition, only 10 municipalities (Yasamal, Zaqatala, Qabala, Mingachevir, Salyan, Lankaran, Quba, Qusar, Siyazan and Khachmaz) partnering with EPF were invited to participate in this competition.
Consequently, EPF granted 6 municipalities (Zaqatala, Qabala, Mingachevir, Salyan, Lankaran and Siyazan) who presented well-defined projects with problem selection and logical plan of proposed actions. The overall amount of the grant is 25 thousand Dollars. These projects aimed at strengthening institutional potential of municipalities. While implementing these projects, municipalities intend to increase capacity building in the sphere of strategic planning, raise activities on social support and expand communication with citizens.
EPF implements “Transparency in Municipal Service Delivery” Program with technical and financial support of Norwegian Statoil Company. The program will continue till March 2012.
