EPF Continues Rewarding Active Youth in Regions of Azerbaijan

Eurasia Partnership Foundation awarded winners of a competition “the best e-media products “ organized in the framework of “Citizen Journalism Electron Media” project. In the ceremony held on January 23-24, 2012 by the program staff of the EPF, in total 15 youth from 5 regions were rewarded.The competition was announced in November-December 2011 in Qazakh, Aqstafa, Samukh, Agcabedi and Barda.

Participants should have submitted 2 blog articles containing up to 300 words. The experts evaluated the submitted articles based on the criteria of quality, topicality of the articles with the attachments of the relevant photos.

Based on the average points, the following youth were rewarded with the main presents and the rest of the participants received encouragement awards like hard discs and flash cards.

EPF implements “Citizen Journalism Electron Media” project with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway since November 2010. The goal of the project is to facilitate the development of free media and promote freedom of expression through boosting the capacity of civil society to actively use e-media as a viable media tool, collect and share information and to create a Citizen Journalism E-media Network through the establishment of media groups in 10 regions. Since the introduction of the project, EPF provided six day trainings on social media tools in Qazakh, Aqstafa, Samukh, Agcabedi and Barda in March – May, 2011 and in Ucar, Kurdemir, Agdam, Qakh and Oguz in October – December, 2011. In the frame of the project EPF also introduced www.regiondan.info website where young people from different regions of Azerbaijan actively write about social problems of their communities.
