Lecture: Eight versions of the post-communist city

CRRC is pleased to invite you to a lecture on Eight versions of the post-communist city delivered by Felix Zwoch, Editor in Chief of Bauwelt Magazine.

Location: CRRC-Azerbaijan, Caspian Plaza, 44J.Jabbarly Street,7th Floor, Baku

Overview: The lecture will start with a short introduction on the general editorial philosophy of Bauwelt. The presenter thinks that architecture and urbanism are linked to political, economic and social issues. He focuses on the manifold relationship between these different aspects. The lecturer will give some explanatory examples of their daily work to illustrate Bauwelt´s unusual publication strategy.

The lecture will concentrate on “Eight versions of the Post-Communist City”. These eight cities were portrayed and analysed in Bauwelt in the last ten years and Mr. Zwoch visited them all. He will give an overview and a personal interpretation with the eyes of an architect.

Lecturer Bio: Felix Zwoch, born 1952, grew up in Bonn, former capital of the Federal Republic of Germany, studied architecture at the Technical University in Aachen, Diploma 1978. Since 1981 he is editor of the weekly appearing architectural magazine Bauwelt, since 1990 Vice Editor in Chief, since 2002 Editor in Chief.

Language: The lecture will be conducted in English.
