

AZERCELL Telecom LLC and Eurasia Partnership Foundation held an evening reception on June 22, 2009. Business executives from leading national and international business companies, representatives of business associations and nonprofit organizations attended the event. The reception was dedicated to Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) sustainable reporting practices. GRI is a not-for-profit organization (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) which provides guidelines for sustainability reporting. GRI G3 Guidelines are the most widely used by reporters in a 65 countries worldwide.
During the reception, Ms. Ulviyya Hasanzade , Head of Corporate Communications and Social Responsibility Unit at Azercell Telecom LLC said that Azerbaijan needs a strong business environment for a speedy and sustainable development. We wishes to see all companies in Azerbaijan, including Azercell, run business in a socially responsible and transparent manner. Mr. Ahad Kazimov, the Corporate Social Investment Program Manager at Eurasia Partnership Foundation in his welcoming speech noted the importance of the development of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Azerbaijan, and emphasized the active support of Azercell Telecom LLC in organizing events with representatives from Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), a well known organization in the field of CSR.
Ms. Asthildur Rutten, a guest speaker from Global Reporting Initiative (GRI, Amsterdam), provided a special presentation on “GRI’s sustainable reporting guideleines – strategic benefits for business,” focusing on today’s sustainability challenges and why it is important the businesses are involved in looking for solutions.
On June 23, Mr. Rutten conducted a workshop “Sustainability reporting using the GRI G3 framework” for the managers of local businesses, journalists and representatives of non-governmental organizations.
